Head of the unit Phytopathology; Diagnoses of fungal diseases of woody plants, surveys for early detection, identification and quantitative assessment of invasive pathogens, esp. of quarantine species; disease-surveys ordered by the European Commission; experiments to characterize the potential spectrum of pathogenicity, host specifity and the biology of organisms; inspection of the performance by authorities and forest practice; analytical and experimental identification of complex tree diseases, experiments in infection biology, epidemiology, prevention and control; chairman of the IUFRO-group „Disease/environment – interactions in forest decline“; cooperation in the elaboration of guidelines and legal ordinances (national and international) and their realisation in national laws, cooperation in the expert committees of the European Commission as delegate of Austria; member of the European Mycological Network (EMN), Drafting and Revising of EPPO-Diagnostic protocols; From 2012 on member of the University of Brno, Czech Republic, scientific leader of the project INVID 2012 to 2015, lectures.
