A L Tozer Ltd. is an independent vegetable seed breeding company based in the UK with operations worldwide and subsidiary companies based in Murcia, Spain and California, USA. We breed a wide variety of crop vegetables for national and international markets including cucurbits, legumes, brassicas, leeks and onions, root crops and a range of leaf vegetables and herbs. A L Tozer has developed the UK market leading varieties in two major apiaceous crops, celery and parsnip and breeds pepper varieties and sell tomato crops, each of which are susceptible or hosts to the pathogenic bacteria Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum. Our mission is to continue to breed and develop exciting niche products of outstanding quality for an expanding customer base around the world.

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

Tozer will screen all their apiaceous seed crops grown in Europe for the presence of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum using the qPCR method and monitor psyllid vector species above crops at their headquarters in Surrey, UK. In addition, a contribution will be given to promote dissemination activities and increase the project external visibility.
