Xylella continues to spread in Apulia ‒ 290 new plants infected in the containment area
On April 14, the Apulian Regional Phytosanitary Service reported on its official website “Emergenza Xylella” the discovery of other 290 olive trees infected by Xylella fastidiosa.
The infected trees have been found throughout the municipalities of Brindisi, Carovigno, Francavilla Fontana, Manduria, Oria, San Vito dei Normanni and Latiano, between the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto.
The new finding alarmingly confirms further expansion of the pathogen toward the northern border of the so-called ‘containment area’, as defined by the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/764.
