Xylella and several key topics of POnTE will be presented at the MPU Congress next to be held in Cordoba
The upcoming Congress of the Mediterranean Phytopathological Union entitled “Plant health sustaining Mediterranean Ecosystems” will be held in Córdoba, Spain, from June 20-23, 2017. MPU meetings promote dissemination of the latest scientific advances and encourage dialogue and collaboration between researchers interested in all aspects of Phytopathology, especially those from Mediterranean countries.
The meeting promises to be an exciting one and many relevant plenary speakers from different areas of Plant Pathology have confirmed their participation, including the Coordinator of POnTE project Dr Donato Boscia that will give a talk on ‘Olive quick decline syndrome and Xylella fastidiosa in Southern Italy: the state of the art’. Furthermore, several concurrent and poster sessions will be held on key topics directly related to POnTE Project including: Invasive pathogens and new emerging plant diseases; Wood diseases in fruit and forest crops in the Mediterranean area; Xylella fastidiosa research in Europe; New tools in plant disease diagnosis and management; Innovative approaches for plant disease resistance, among others.
Cordoba is located in the heart of Andalusia in Southern Spain and features a unique combination of Roman, Arabic, Jewish and Christian heritage, including UNESCO heritage historical monuments. It is also a young and vibrant city with modern shopping areas, an outstanding Mediterranean gastronomy and a privileged climate. Attendance of POnTE project participants will contribute to the fruitful exchange of scientific ideas and help to forge new friendships and future collaborations of great benefit for the dissemination of POnTE project results.
