The contributions of POnTE and XF-ACTORS research at the European Congress of Entomology (ECE 2018)
The European Congress of Entomology (ECE) 2018 was held on 2-6 July 2018 at Naples, Italy. The ECE 2018 organised by the Società Entomologica Italiana and the Accademia Nazionale Italiana di Entomologia was an important opportunity to exchange ideas about all aspects of entomology, gathering together 945 registered attendees from 65 countries.
A total of sixteen sessions were held during the congress, covering all the aspects of insect research and comprising a total of 460 oral contributions and 560 posters.
Apart from other contributions, some results of the ongoing research within the POnTE and XF-ACTORS projects were presented by Dr. Vincenzo Cavalieri (CNR-IPSP), giving a talk on “Transmission of the CoDiRO strain of Xylella fastidiosa by different insect species” and Dr. Daniele Cornara (ICA-CSIC), presenting “Vectors of Xf in Europe: behavioral aspects involved in transmission”.
The poster contributions made by Dr. Ugo Picciotti (CIHEAM) on “Aphrophoridae (Hemiptera) vectors of Xylella fastidiosa pauca OQDS juvenile quantitative sampling“, Dr. Pasquale Cascone (CNR-IPSP) on “Cues regulating Philaenus spumarius behaviour” and Dr. Sabina Avosani (Fondazione Edmund Mach) on “Unveiling the vibrational communication and the mating behavior of the meadow spittlebug Philaenus spumarius (Hemiptera:Aphrophoridae)” should be mentioned as well.
