POnTE Project presented at conference on Xylella organized by AVA-ASAJA in Valencia
POnTE EU project was presented at the conference “Xylella fastidiosa and the fight against pests and diseases in the EU”, held in Valencia (Spain), on May 10, 2016. The event was organized by the Spanish regional grower association AVA-ASAJA, worried by the possible advancement of the dangerous pathogen, so far identified in Apulia, Provence and Corsica, in the Mediterranean region.
During the information day, a talk was given by Dr. Antonio Vicent (IVIA-PPBC), who summarized for the audience the structure of the POnTE project and main objectives to be accomplished during the next years. The most relevant research activities about Xylella as well as the other pathogens approached in the project, ‘Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum’ in row crops, and Phytophthora and Hymenoscyphus fraxineus in forest trees were briefly described.
The speech was closely followed by the local and national authorities, scientists and stakeholder representatives attending the conference.
