CITOLIVA presented the results of the POnTE Project to olive growers in Jaen
CITOLIVA organized a training conference in collaboration with the Interoleo Group. The leading experts showed the advances of the Vegetal Health in olive growing from 18 to 20 of September in Jaén.
On the closing day, Blanca Landa, a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Córdoba, analyzed the current situation of Xylella fastidiosa in Spain and presented the results of the European POnTe project – in which CITOLIVA is involved – that has allowed to optimize the diagnostic procedures of the bacterium, its subspecies and genetic variants; they have developed techniques for early detection of the disease with remote sensors, and identified their characters in different Spanish regions, and geographic areas with more favorable climatic conditions for the development of bacteria and their subspecies.
Marina Morente, a postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), talked about the potential vectors of Xylella fastidiosa in Spain and discussed possible control strategies.
