POnTE and XF-ACTORS have presented their contributions at the annual conference of the EuroXanth COST
A joint scientific event, held from 18 to 21 July 2018 at the prestigious Leopoldina Academy of Sciences in Halle (Germany), brought together the researchers involved in the 6th edition of the Xanthomonas Genomics Conference (XGC 2018) and the 2nd Annual Conference of the EU-funded EuroXanth COST Action.
This scientific event, organised in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Ulla Bonas’ team (Martin-Luther-Universität of Halle-Wittenberg), welcomed 130 participants sharing their latest research results on the bacterial member of Xanthomonadaceae family. Organised within six scientific sessions, the conference covered research on different species of Xanthomonas, and Xylella fastidiosa as well.
Among the 33 oral presentations and 70 posters presented, the contributions of some researchers of the POnTE and XF-ACTORS consortia, who presented their recent results funded by the Horizon 2020 programme, were remarkable.
Regarding the oral contributions, a talk “Assessment of the effects of antimicrobial and quorum-sensing regulating substances on biofilm formation and cell growth of Xylella fastidiosa De Donno strain” was given by Dr. Massimiliano Morelli (CNR-IPSP) .
Poster contributions included the research presented by Dr. Giusy D’Attoma (University of Bari/CNR-IPSP) on “Evaluation of the effect of Xylella fastidiosa on leaf ionome and calcium-related gene expression profiles of infected olive trees”, Dr. Enora Dupas (INRA/ANSES) on “Improving Xylella fastidiosa subspecies detection using Real-Time PCR and droplet digital PCR”, Dr. Anne Sicard (UC Berkeley) on “Identifying Xylella fastidiosa host adaptation candidate genes: The case of X. fastidiosa subsp. pauca isolates and olive trees in Italy”, Dr. Valeria Scala (CREA-PAV) on “Lipids profile of Nicotiana tabacum Petite Havana SR1 inoculated with X. fastidiosa subsp. pauca strain De Donno” and Dr. Sophie Cesbron (INRA) on “Improving the typing of Xylella fastidiosa directly from plant material”.
