ALBERTO FERERES

More than 30 years of experience in the area of agricultural entomology and phytopathology, including graduate and post-graduate stays abroad, a MSc. degree (1987) in Entomology obtained at Purdue University, and a Postdoctoral stay at University of California, Riverside (1989). A 1-year sabbatical stay at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1997) completed the background in the area of applied entomology and insect vectors of plant pathogens. Other previous positions include: Director of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (ICA) at Spanish Research Council (CSIC), Madrid (2006-2011) and Director of the Center for Environmental Sciences (CCMA) at the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), Madrid (2009-2011). Currently, I am the team leader of the “Insect Vectors of Plant Pathogens” research group at ICA-CSIC, Madrid. My research group is one of the best known internationally in the field of the feeding behaviour of sap-sucking insects and the transmission of plant viruses. Has published more than 170 publications in scientific journals and 20 book chapters. Currently, Chairman of the International Committee of Plant Virus Epidemiology (part of the International Society of Plant Pathology).
